About Phoenix AV - Audio Visual Conversions, Document and Photograph Archiving

It probably began 45 years ago when, as a 12 year old, I became interested in photography and blow me what happened? - THE SIXTIES.

Could you ignore it? not at your peril! What came in the sixties package? Real music - The Beatles and all the other artists and groups in convoy, Technology, the Moon, colour TV, and of course we got to keep the Jules Rimet trophy. Fast sports cars and motorbikes, Package Holidays etc., but, best of all, Free love and a genuine respect for everything and everyone.

Music joined my passion of photography but had eventually to take a back seat to a real life of a profession, Marriage and children.

Duty to the planet duly done and again enjoying life I became somewhat miffed when a 'youngster' of thirty-odd years called me OLD MAN!!! "Yes kid, I'm old because I'm wise, and the wiser I get the older I get, so, for everything you do now and enjoy, you can say "thank you old man" because my generation invented and road tested it. "Now take your Xbox home and ask your mother to change your nappy!"

Phoenix AV started subconciously millennium eve 1999 whilst living in France, when we had the mother of all bashes with French friends, neighbours and Brits coming from the UK which lasted two days. The ‘Do’ had to be archived, everybody was trawled for their photo’s and a slideshow was produced on CD.

I had a collection of LP's from the sixties at the time but nothing then to play them on, the idea came to me to find someone to try to put them on to CD to preserve both the music and vinyl, I duly found someone in France who could do it but for reasons to follow this did not happen at that time.

In 2005 relatives were cajoled into digging into their archives, lofts and anywhere else for old photos, negatives and slides of the wider family, the idea being to put together for mother, Matriarch of the family, a record of her life up to that point.

It was duly completed in time for Christmas of that year, containing photos of her parents, herself (the very first in the sequence as a two month old babe in arms date 1924) and siblings of whom she alone remained, weddings, Christenings, holidays, you name it and it was in. It was the best gift she had ever recieved or could wish to have, a comprehensive record of her and her family life right before her in her own hands.

2006 was not a good year. Mother unfortunately left us but unknowingly also left her legacy to her family, by virtue of that record of her life that had been so carefully put together, a true family heirloom.

Now, where are those LPs I wanted copying? Could I find someone to do them, yes, I finally came up with the right person by the name of "If tha wants owt doin right lad, do it thi sel".

I knew exactly what I wanted and so Phoenix AV rose from the ashes.

For clients I am currently archiving to CD amongst other projects, Rare demo LPs that did not go into production, family holidays 1958 onwards and compiling to DVD chronologically, videos of family holidays 1963 to present.

Hey Kids, This 'old man' can load your phone, iPod, MP3 player and anything else you've got, bet you didn't know I can even load your watch - if you can tell the time!
